(Ytterby,village in Sweden) Discovered by Gadolin in 1794 in Yttria, an earth containing Yttrium. Ytterby is a site which yielded several minerals containing rare earth elements. Other elements found there are erbium, terbium and ytterbium. Yttrium can be found in almost all rare-earth minerals. Moon rocks show high presence of yttrium.
